Chris Fouch was as cold as the Niagara winter in the first half but came on strong in the second, scoring 24 points as the Drexel Dragons beat the Niagara Purple Eagles.

Fouch had just three points at halftime as the Dragons trailed, 37-31. The junior got his jumper going in the second, hitting from deep twice as Drexel went on a 13-0 run early in the second half.

A Fouch trey with 11:23 left made it 47-40, and another with 7:32 remaining made it 60-41 and completed a 29-4 stretch over the first 12:28 of the second half. The Purple Eagles missed 16 shots in a row, getting only free throws between a Scooter Gillette layup (19:41 remaining) and an Antoine Mason 3-pointer (5:30 remaining)

Damion Lee had the hot hand early for the Dragons, scoring 11 of Drexel’s first 13 points as he hit three 3-pointers in the first four minutes. The freshman finished with 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with eight rebounds.

The Dragons held the Purple Eagles to shooting just 34.6 percent (18-of-52) while hitting half of their 46 shot attempts, including 42.3 percent (11-of-26) of their 3-pointers.

Samme Givens added 17 points while hitting on six of his eight field-goal attempts, and he also grabbed six boards as part of a 30-25 Drexel advantage on the glass.

-Next: The Dragons (4-4, 0-1 CAA) return home to face Bradley (4-4, 0-0 MVC) at 4 p.m. Saturday at the DAC.
